What Makes You Weep?

Jesus wept.

He wept over the loss of a friend and over the city of Jerusalem. He was moved with compassion for two blind men and for a leper. He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief.

What makes you weep?

Is it your family, a friendship, a community, a city?

Maybe it’s lament over the past, pain in the present, or the prospect of pending loss.

Perhaps it’s oppression, abuse, injustice, broken systems, illness, death, the facts of a fallen world.

Our tears tell our values. They reflect and connect our deepest humanity.

Don’t be afraid to sit with your sadness — or to let others see it.

What makes you weep?
